Nisha Agarwal is an accomplished public interest lawyer and a leading voice in immigration reform at the local and national level. Her tenure as the Commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs is marked by her entrepreneurial drive and proven record of enacting proimmigrant legislation. Commissioner Agarwal led the development and implementation of IDNYC, the country’s largest municipal identification program. Honored by numerous recognitions, including Crain’s New York Business’ 40 Under 40, Commissioner Agarwal received her B.A. summa cum laude from Harvard College and her J.D. from Harvard Law School and was a Marshall Scholar at Oxford University.

Ospite d'eccezione per il primo evento organizzato dal Team International and Area Studies del progetto Research for Global Challenges. Nisha Agarwal, City Commissioner
for Immigrant Affairs della della città di New York discuterà di immigrazione, diritti umani e sicurezza durante la Trump Administration. L’iniziativa è tesa a valorizzare un approccio interdisciplinare alla ricerca e riunisce uno studioso di relazioni internazionali, una giurista ed una leading practitioner nel campo dell’immigrazione nell’ottica della partecipazione a bandi di ricerca europei e globali. Le sfide della migrazione sono oggetto di una call del Work Programme 2018-2020 Horizon 2020 su cui verte il lavoro di uno dei due  gruppi tematici del Team International and Area Studies.
