Panos is currently assistant professor (RTD-A) at the department of Environmental Sciences, Informatics and Statistics (DAIS). Panos has received his Ph.D. on Environmental Sciences at Ca Foscari University of Venice in 2015 and is member of the "Environmental Chemistry & Environmental Risk Assessment" research group (link) of prof. Antonio Marcomini. He holds a MSc degree on environmental engineering from the Technical University of Crete.

Panos performs interdisciplinary research in the fields of risk analysis, assessment and management of chemicals and nanomaterials (including micro/nanoplastics), with focus on risk governance through the design and implementation of frameworks for structuring complex processes and the development of web-based tools and Decision Support Systems (DSS). In addition he is exploring applied Operational Research (OR) through the incorporation of Multicriteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) methodologies on various environmental issues. He supports the research group in mathematical modelling and implementation of various methodologies for data analysis. Providing tailored solutions according to the needs of each scientific project.

He is currently Principal Investigator (PI) for UNIVE at the H2020 project RiskGONE and has collaborated in various FP7, H2020 and nationally funded research projects (AMORE, ENPRA, NANEX, MARINA, 4FUN, GEMINA (IT), EPSEI, KULTURisk, caLIBRAte, APACHE).

He is member of the Euro Working Group on MCDA, the MCDM society and the NanoSafety Cluster. Acts as reviewer for several high-impact journals (SMALL, Environmental Science: nano, RSC Sustainability, Science of the Total Environment (STOTEN), Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) and more)
