- Development of analytical methods for the determination of organic micropollutants in environmental (water, sediment, biota) samples
- Advanced characterization and analytical determination of engineered nanoparticles and nanomaterials in standards, specimens, biological and environmental matrices.

Senior Researcher and Coordinator of research groups of typically 1-5 people; responsible of both interim and final project scientific reporting, including scientific communications at international/national conferences and preparation of scientific papers published in refereed international journals. He has has been involved as investigator in the many International and National research projects, among them:

Member of SETAC (Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry) and SCI (Società Chimica Italiana).

Technical skills: Expert use of advanced analytical techniques such as High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) coupled with UV, fluorescence detectors, as well as Mass Spectrometry (Quadrupole, Ion Trap, Time-of-Flight), Gas Chromatography (GC) coupled with FID and MS detectors, Pyrolysis- Gas Cromatography (Py-GC, Flow Field Fractionation (FFF). Advanced experience in analytical methods development, by solid-phase extraction (SPE), HPLC-UV/-fluorescence, HPLC-MS and HPLC-MS-MS, for the determination of nanoparticles, nanomaterials and organic micropollutants (endocrine disrupters, pharmaceuticals and personal care products, sulfonates, surfactants, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) and their biointermediates in environmental samples, both liquid (fresh water, sea water, underground water, final effluents from sewage treatment plants, drinking water) and solid (soil, sediment, organisms). Expert use of Windows-based operating systems (Win98, WinNT, Win2000, WinXP) and their main applications (Office, Photoshop, Internet Explorer, Eudora, PhotoPaint, Agilent Chemstation, etc.)
