6.1 Purposes of processing and methods used

6.1.1. Navigation data
The computer systems used to operate the unive.it website automatically acquire, during their normal operation, some personal data whose transmission is implicit in the communication protocols of the Internet. This information, if processed in association with data held by third parties, could identify users/visitors to the site. This category of data includes IP addresses or domain names of computers used by users connecting to unive.it. These personal data are normally collected to obtain anonymous statistical information about the site and are used to facilitate exploration of the unive.it website.

6.1.2. Cookies
The unive.it website uses cookies. These are small text strings that sites visited by the user send to the user’s browser and that are automatically stored on the user’s computer. Cookies are used to ensure effective and efficient navigation of the unive.it website. For this reason, we suggest that users allow cookies. Almost all browsers are configured to accept cookies. However, users may modify their settings to disable cookies (opt-out), as described below.
There are two types of cookies: session cookies and persistent cookies. Session cookies are downloaded temporarily to the user’s computer but then erased when the browser is closed. Persistent cookies are saved to the user’s hard drive until they expire and are used principally to ensure easy navigation of the unive.it website. Third party cookies
When users visit a site they can receive cookies from both the website (“owner”) and from sites managed by other companies (“third parties”). Cookies are transmitted to and from sites, managed by third parties through widgets, and are used for services offered by third party sites such as from Google Inc., Anobii, Issuu and ilMeteo.it and by social plugins such as Facebook and Twitter. Google Analytics also uses cookies to monitor and elaborate aggregate statistics. It is a web analytics service offered by Google Inc. ("Google") in order to improve website use and communications with users. Google may transfer data collected to third parties where required by law. Data is collected exclusively for institutional purposes and will never be used for commercial purposes (for further information please refer to Google Analytics terms of service). Google Analytics has been configured on the unive.it website to guarantee IP address anonymity (for further information please refer to Google Analytics IP Anonymization).
The treatment of data collected by third parties is disciplined by the relative policy which you are requested to refer to. To guarantee greater transparency and ease, we list below the links to websites offering information and indications on cookie management. How to disable and delete cookies
You can deny consent to using cookies by selecting the appropriate setting on your browser: disabling cookies from the unive.it website may affect service access. The links below explain how to disable the cookies for the most common browsers (for any other browsers used, we advise you to look for this option in the software help option):

As an alternative, it is possible to disable only Google Analytics cookies by using the opt-out browser add-on provided by Google for the most common browsers.
Even if you deny authorization for using external cookies, these may have already been memorized on your device/computer. For technical reasons it is not possible to delete these cookies, however, your browser allows you to delete them by changing your privacy settings. In the browser options you will find a “Delete navigation data” option, which can be used to delete cookies, website data and plug-ins.

  • to supply requested on-line services
  • to support users
