Contents

Educational Goals

The main objective of the course is to introduce students to Francophone literatures (Creole-speaking - mainly Haitian - and African areas; Québec; Maghreb). The course will focus on the theme of slavery in Francophone literatures.

Requirements

Good knowledge of French language; really good ability to read French (reading comprehension).

Contents

The course will begin by examining Haitian literature in its historical development (anthological readings will be included). After some seminars on African, North African and Canadian French-speaking literatures, the course will focus on the theme of slavery in Francophone literatures.
