Contents
Educational Goals
The course aims to provide the student with basic knowledge on causes,
forms and effects of contemporary migrations, with particular reference to
European and Italian context. In addition, the course intends to provide
the student with some main conceptual and analytical tools for
sociological analysis of migrations and cultural relations between people.
At the end of the course the student will have acquired:
- a general overview of migratory movements towards Europe and Italy, main
causes that generate such movements as well as social and cultural
processes related to them;
-the main conceptual tools for the study of migration phenomenon , as
elaborated by the most advanced and recent studies.
Contents
The structural relations between globalization and international migrations; characteristics of migration in the main european countries (migration policies, integration models and pathways); the different dimensions of immigration phenomenon in Italy: labour, health, migration policies, female migrations, racism and discrimination, multiculturalism.
