Educational Goals
The course is an introduction to the statistical methods and procedures most commonly used in economics and business.
Requirements
Students must pass the exam of Mathematics [ET0045] before giving the exam of Statistics.
Contents
The full 12 credit course programme is:
1. Introduction to statistical methodology.
2. Probability theory: basic concepts, conditional probability and stochastic independence, Bayes theorem.
3. Descriptive statistics: data collection and classification, frequency distributions, statistical indices.
4. Discrete and continuous random variables.
5. Statistical inference: point and interval estimation; testing statistical hypotheses.
6. Interactions among variables: dependence, regression.
