Interlibrary Loan Service

The Interlibrary Loan Service allows users to borrow books, or particular parts of a book, that are not available in any of Ca' Foscari libraries or in a nearby library. Items may be borrowed from libraries in Italy and abroad. This service is made available for professors, researchers, students and employees of Ca' Foscari University of Venice. Before making the request it is preferred to verify if the item is held by any of the libraries in Venice. The user can make the research in Opac catalogue.

How to make a request

The user can make a request by filling in an online form. Some items may be restricted to use within the Learning Centre Library (it depends on the owning library). If the user makes a request for some parts of a book, the owning library can decide to send the entire book instead of the selection (in that case the cost of the loan will vary). The item requested may take few weeks to arrive: it is not possible for the university to estimate time because it depends on the lending library (on average two or three weeks). Neverthless it is possible to check the status of request in the personal area of Opac catalogue.
The items are supposed to be taken, give back and payed at Learning Centre Library (BSD) from Monday to Friday 9.00 am - 1.00 pm.

Document Delivery Service

The Document Delivery Service allows users to borrow articles that are not available in any of Ca' Foscari libraries or in a nearby library. Articles may be borrowed from libraries in Italy and abroad. This service is available for professors, researchers, students and employees of Ca' Foscari University of Venice.
Before making the request it is preferred to verify if the item is held by any of the libraries in Venice. The user can make the research in Opac catalogue or in E-journals catalogue.

How to make a request

The user can make a request by filling in an online form. The requested articles will be sent, if possible, in digital format via e-mail or in printed format and it will be possible to collect them in Learning Centre Library (BSD). In both cases the user has to pay for delivery in BSD Library. The item requested may take few weeks to arrive: it is not possible for the university to estimate time because it depends on the lending library (on average few days if in digital format and one or two weeks if in printed format). Neverthless it is possible to check the status of request in the personal area of Opac catalogue.
