  • NDLTD Union Catalog A collaborative effort of the NDLTD, OCLC, VTLS, and Scirus, the NDLTD Union Catalog contains more than one million records of electronic theses and dissertations. For students and researchers, the Union Catalog makes individual collections of NDLTD member institutions and consortia appear as one seamless digital library of ETDs.   • Proquest Dissertations and Theses (PQDT) Open. PQDT Open provides the full text of open access dissertations and theses free of charge. The authors of these dissertations and theses have opted to publish as open access and make their research available for free on the open Web. Open Access Publishing is a service offered by ProQuest's UMI Dissertation PublishingProquest Dissertations and Thesis - Full text is the world's most comprehensive collection of dissertations and theses. The official digital dissertations archive for the Library of Congress and the database of record for graduate research. PQDT — Full Text includes 2.7 million searchable citations to dissertations and theses from around the world from 1861 to the present day together with 1.2 million full text dissertations that are available for download in PDF format. The database offers full text for most of the dissertations added since 1997 and strong retrospective full text coverage for older graduate works. Simple bibliographic citations are available for dissertations dating from 1637. Access restricted. Dissertation Express is a payment service offered by ProQuest's UMI (University Microform Inc.). It lets associations and individuals order and receive a (paper or digital) copy of the theses which can be found in the ProQuest Dissertation and Thesis - Full text.

  • Dissertations Theses Database, by The Center for Research Libraries, is a consortium of North American universities, colleges and independent research libraries. The consortium acquires and preserves newspapers, journals, documents, archives and other traditional and digital resources for research and teaching. The database lists doctoral dissertations submitted to institutions outside the U.S. and Canada (more than 800,000). One hundred European universities maintain exchange or deposit agreements with CRL. It is possible to see the list of all countries and associations which can be found in the CRL database by using the two pull-down menu under "Browse by Country and Awarding Institution".

Collective Theses Catalogues 

  • DATAD Database of African Theses and Dissertations contains citations and abstracts for theses and dissertations completed in African universities (see members list here). The launching database includes works from all subject areas in  leading universities and include abstracts written by the authors. Subscription required to access.

  • IRSpace is a federated search engine which searches across all South African research repositories. Under construction.

Canada

  • Érudit. In French, some English. Erudit is a Canadian university sponsored project to disseminate the results (journals, books, theses, eprints) of university research. Find full text theses through a keyword Search.

France

  • Cyberthèses is a thesis electronic archive and diffusion program, which has French-speaking origins. Initiated by the University of Montreal Press's and University Lumière Lyon 2 with the support of the "Fonds Francophone des Inforoutes", it became over the years an international cooperation program between some European, North and Latin American, African universities. The Cyberthèse network brought together many institutions, French speaking or not, all over the world. The archive currently harvests more than 80.000 documents from 60 archives (see list here).
