  • RIT Libraries. Deaf Studies Resources by Rochester Institute of Technology (NY) is one of the most comprehensive web pages on topics related to deaf studies. Over 1.000 links are provided for all areas of Deaf life including ASL, careers, literature, culture, ethnic groups, sports, and more.

     

  • NTID Deaf Index by Jonathan Millis (National Technical Institute for the Deaf at Rochester Institute of Technology, NY). This database contains over 18.000 entries relating to conference proceedings, newsletters, periodicals, collections of articles, book reviews, news items, and many other sources for Interpreting, Interpreting issues, Sign Language, Deaf Studies, Deaf History, and other related materials. You can search by Title, Author, Subject, Periodical.

     

  • Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center, Gallaudet University 
    The section "Information on Deafness" is organized by topic. Subjects treated include "Educate children", "Language and Literacy", "Hearing and communication technology".

     

  • Deaf Education Guide by Hoover Library lists General Resources, Periodicals, Deaf Associations, Deaf Schools and Programs.

     

  • DeafEd.net Deaf Education is provided by the Deaf Education Teacher Preparation Program at Michigan State University. Its mission is to enhance the preparation of new teachers and to expand the array of learning resources and opportunities that are available to deaf/hard-of-hearing (d/hh) students. The site presents instructional strategies, curriculum materials, information on teacher preparation programs, employment opportunities, etc. In the section "Documents" there is a list of links to online documents organized by topic/subject matter.

     

  • DeafLinx.com contains thousands of annotated web links and information about Deaf culture, meeting members of the Deaf Community, technology, sign language, interpreting, education, etc.

     

  • Deaf Resource Library by Karen Nakamura (Yale University anthropology professor) "is a virtual library -- an online collection of reference material and links intended to educate and inform people about Deaf cultures in Japan and the United States; as well as deaf and hard of hearing related topics".

     

  • International Bibliography of Sign Language compiled and managed by Guido Joachim, Siegmund Prillwitz and Thomas Hanke (University of Hamburg), contains 44.000 titles of academic literature and 6.300 abstracts. "It focuses on modern sign language research. Beyond that, the bibliography records text related to deaf culture, sign language interpreting as well as education od the deaf".

     

  • PEN International. The Postsecondary Education Network-International (PEN-International), a multinational partnership of colleges and universities worldwide, aims to improve and expand postsecondary education for deaf and hard-of-hearing students around the world by sharing educational technology and conducting faculty development and training, particularly in developing countries. PEN-International captures all network activities including delegation visits, conferences, cultural exchanges, and professional development training workshops. The descriptions of these activities often include links to related resources such as PowerPoint slide shows, photos, and captioned video streaming.

     

  • PEPNet Dissemination Center. PEPNet now provides services to support a deaf or hard of hearing student's transition from high school to advanced educational programs, colleges and universities, and other training programs.The PEPNet Resource Center includes an extensive online catalog of materials related to deafness, along with information about where to locate various resources, including books, periodicals and Academic Research Theses and Dissertations.
  • Teacher Planet contains hundreds of resource pages for teachers. The Deaf Awareness page offers lesson plans for various grade levels. Many of the lessons are linked to institutions such as PBS and the Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center.

     

  • DeafZone is an independent internet communication platform for deaf, hard of hearing and hearing people. It has a large selection of audiovisual material.

  • Biblioteca de signos is a part of Biblioteca Virtual Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. The website offers access to resources to Spanish Sign Language. It includes videos of signed poetry, and a bibliography of published material on the linguistics of Sign Language. In addition, the website provides material for learning Spanish Sign Language such as Spanish Sign Language dictionaries. 
  • Listen-up Web Page. Specializing in information for the deaf and hard of hearing, this site includes information, answers, help, ideas, and resources related to deafness and hearing loss. There is a section on Sign Language with many links.
  • Deaf Culture & Sign Languages of the global village. Resources for people interested in deafness, sign languages (mostly American, Norwegian, Japanese, Chinese), and Deaf Culture including children and adults, educators, hearing and speech professionals.
  • DeafWebSites lists Deaf Sites from all over the world, dividing them into categories (Associations, Events, Forums, etc.) and countries. 
  • ECHO (European Cultural Heritage Online). Case study 4: Sign Language.
  • Handspeak is a sign-language website, consisting of an American Sign Language (ASL) online dictionary, ASL grammar, and sign language art. Other sections of interest include: Baby Talk, International Sign Language, gesture, ASL storytelling and art. Registration required.
  • Omniglot Guide to all major alphabets, syllabaries and other writing systems. Also includes information on languages and links to other online language resources. 
  • Sign-Language.biz Site by Pilar Cantariño (Salamanca), available in Spanish, English, German, Portuguese, Russian, contents information on Sign Languages and related resources (print dictionaries, associations, products, interpreting, job, etc.).
  • Sign Language of the Netherlands, Dept. of Linguistics, Radboud University Nijmegen.
  • Center for Sign Linguistics and Deaf Studies (CSLDS), Chinese University of Hong Kong is the first academic institution specializing in Sign Linguistics research and Deaf training in the Asia Pacific region. The Centre is being recognized as the hub of Sign Linguistics research and plays a pivotal role in conducting postgraduate and undergraduate training, Deaf training, and in-service training for teachers for the Deaf, both in Theoretical and Applied Sign Linguistics.
