Multiservice Card

All students enrolled in a First Cycle Degree Programme, a Second Cycle Degree Programme or a Doctoral Programme of Ca’ Foscari University are given a Multiservice Card (in Italian: Carta Multiservizi), which is sent to their residence address.

This initiative results from the co-operation between Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and Banco San Marco of Gruppo Banco Popolare and provides students with a card which:

  • acts as a personal identity card to gain access to the canteen and library services;
  • can be used as a convenient pre-paid or charge card.

Starting from the a.y. 2012/2013 the Multiservice Card will be the only tool to manage the financial transactions between Ca’ Foscari and the student. In case the student has gained or is eligible for a scholarship or is entitled to, he/she has to activate the Multiservice Card for crediting of amounts, which will be carried out for free (refund for payment of university and tuition fees and scholarship). In addition it can be used as a K2 card account (with IBAN) to receive and make payments all over the world and in Internet. For further details please click here.

How to apply for a Multiservice Card

The Multiservice Card is sent for free to all students enrolling in a First Cycle Degree Programme, a Second Cycle Degree Programme or a Doctoral Programme of Ca’ Foscari University. While submitting the enrolment application form, students will indicate the address to receive the Card. In case the address is abroad, the Card will be sent to the Central Administration Offices. The card will be sent for free within 3 weeks from the enrolment confirmation.

Until receiving the Multiservice Card or in case of its loss, students can be admitted to any canteen and library services by simply using the taxpayer code (codice fiscale) or the health insurance card containing it.

Students already enrolled in a First- or Second-Cycle Degree Programme who intend to apply for grants, fees reduction or student collaboration opportunities will receive the new card, even thought they already have one. In order to receive the due financial contribution, they will have to activate the new card following the instructions which will be soon published on-line.

The prepaid and charge card function

The prepaid card function can be activated for free by the bank, also for students who are not account holders.

The prepaid card can be used to:

  • carry out online payments, included those relevant to university fees;
  • receive money online;
  • carry out purchases at the MasterCard points of sale;
  • buy online;
  • withdraw cash out of cashpoints having a special agreement with MasterCard, either in Italy or abroad.

The prepaid card is valid for 5 years since its issuing and remains valid even in case of university career changes within Ca’ Foscari University (for instance in case of change of the Degree Programme or enrolment in a Second Cycle Degree Programme after gaining the First Cycle Degree).

In case of loss, theft, cloning, non delivery or malfunctioning of the Multiservice Card, refer to the specific duplicate/replacement procedures.

How to activate the prepaid card function

The prepaid card function can be activated for free at a counter of the Gruppo Banco Popolare, by submitting a valid identity document along with the taxpayer code (in Italian: codice fiscale) or the health insurance card containing it.

Provided the activation is carried out at a counter of the above-mentioned banks, the Card can be recharged for free via bank transfer (to the IBAN indicated in the Card) or cash.

In case the student has gained or is eligible for a scholarship or is entitled to, he/she has to  activate the Multiservice Card for crediting of amounts, which will be carried out for free (refund for payment of university and tuition fees and scholarship) .

The activation of the Multiservice Card is compulsory only for the Phd students enrolled in the 28th cycle.
