University tuition fees for International Students

The amount of university fees students who are foreign citizens enrolling in the academic year 2011/2012 must pay depends upon individual circumstances, broken down into three different cases:

  1. International students who are EU citizens must pay university tuition fees according to the same special fee structure for students who are Italian citizens.

  2. Those international students who are citizens of a country with a low human development index (Ministerial Decree dated May 2nd, 2011) are subject:

    • to the same special fee structure for students who are Italian citizens, if they hold an ISEE certifying an income situation equal to or less than EUR 39,999.99 (and submitted the ISEE certificate by the established deadline) and they meet all the requirements necessary to be entitled to the fee reduction based on income situation;

    • to a 55% reduction of the full university fees if they do not submit ISEE certificate (or they submit it after the deadline has passed), or if their income situation is equal to or superior to EUR 40,000.00, or they do not meet all the requirements necessary to be entitled to the fee reduction based on income situation.
      In this case, the first instalment of university tuition fees is equal to EUR 1,009.62 and must be paid by October 14th, 2011, and the second instalment is equal to EUR 1,025.00 and must be paid by May 18th, 2012.
      In any case, these students are still entitled to the fee reduction based on academic achievements or the speed incentive that are available to all students.

  3. Those international students who are citizens of non-EU countries with no low human development index are subject to:

    • the same special fee structure for students who are Italian citizens, if they hold an ISEE certifying an income situation equal to or less than EUR 39,999.99 (and submitted the ISEE certificate by the established deadline) and they meet all the requirements necessary to be entitled to the fee reduction based on income situation;

    • the full university fees if they do not submit an ISEE certificate (or they submit it after the deadline has passed), or if their income situation is equal to or superior to EUR 40,000.00, or they do not meet all the requirements necessary to be entitled to the fee reduction based on income situation.
      In this case, the first instalment of university tuition fees is equal to EUR 1,009.62 and must be paid by October 14th, 2011, and the second instalment is equal to EUR 3,435.00 and must be paid by May 18th, 2012.
      In any case, these students are still entitled to the fee reduction based on academic achievements or the speed incentive that are available to all students.

In case of late payment of fees, international students are subject to the same penalty surcharges for students who are Italian citizens.
