The School of International Relations draws on the expertise in the fields of languages, economics, law, politics and history at Ca’ Foscari University, to implement innovative teaching in the field of international relations and intercultural mediation. The teaching activities of the School are supported by the Departments of Linguistics and Comparative Cultural Studies, Asian and North African Studies, Economics, Humanities, and Philosophy and Cultural Heritage.

The School coordinates a Second Cycle Degree Programme in International Relations and the European Master’s Programme Crossing the Mediterranean: Cultural Mediation towards Investments and Integration. Both programmes display original features in the context of Italian academia.
Particularly high-quality interdisciplinary expertise is available for topics such as cultural mediation, human rights, international security policy, economic development, amongst others. The teaching staff comprises area studies experts of Africa, Asia, North and South America, the Mediterranean, the Middle East and Gulf region and Europe, with a specific focus on East and South-East Europe. The teaching activities strongly resort to comparative approaches.

Besides the undergraduate and graduate programmes, the School develops integrated research and teaching cooperation with prominent international institutions, for example in the fields of human rights and democratisation, as well as international relations of the Middle East, Mediterranean and Baltic Sea areas, and the Euro-Mediterranean region.
The manifold activities provided by the international networks and projects the School is connected to, offer the students numerous opportunities to attend lectures, workshops and seminars, and meet widely renowned scholars from the world’s most prestigious universities and research institutions, as well as high-level specialists and professionals operating in the fields of diplomacy, trans-national enterprise and international organisations.
