Gulf and Middle East Semester

The School of International Relations, in cooperation with Gulf Research Center Foundation and Ca' Foscari Foundation, organises each spring a "Gulf and Middle East Semester."

During this period students are offered an overview of the international relations of this fundamentally important world region. This is also an opportunity for them to meet prominent international scholars of world-wide reputation. The School furthermore offers one or two-month visiting fellowships to scholars from prestigious international universities and research institutions and it organizes book workshops leading to peer-reviewed international publications.

Agreements in the field of Middle East studies have been drawn up also with the Oxford Middle East Center, Sciences Po of Paris, and Cambridge University.

Amongst the many outstanding professors who so far held guest lectures or directed seminars, are some of the world’s most distinguished experts in the field, such as Gilles Kepel, Eugene Rogan, Giacomo Luciani, Fred Lawson, Gregory Gause, Tim Niblock, Gerd Nonneman, Gary Sick, Avi Shlaim, Paolo Branca, Philip Robins, James Russell, Vittorio Emanuele Parsi, Farhad Kazemi, Ali Banuazizi, Michael Willis, Christopher Davidson, Steffen Hertog, Roham Alvandi, and many others.

Responsible: Prof. Matteo Legrenzi
