Summer@SIE is the School for International Education's summer programme: courses and workshops in Italian and English aimed at meeting the most diverse learning interests.

From mindfulness to water management, from web writing to Italian language and culture, Summer@SIE offers a range of innovative, engaging topics which go beyond strictly academic studies.

Courses are open to everyone.

3rd International School on Emergy Accounting

The 3rd International School on Emergy Accounting at Ca' Foscari University in Venice (May 21 - 25, 2018) brings together students and researchers coming from a variety of disciplines, including ecology, chemistry, biology, physics, environmental science and engineering, economics, social and political sciences, with the aim of exploring current developments of Emergy science and its application to human and environmental systems.

Venice Short Film Workshop

Addressed to aspiring filmmakers, the Venice Short Film Workshop is a full intensive course, which offers a complete training on diverse themes: planning a story, shooting, acting and editing. Participants will create short films in a "boot camp" environment, promoting creativity and maximizing collaboration, and will have the opportunity to stimulate their talent and enhance their capabilities.

Venice Short Film Workshop 

The Environment and Economics of Coastal Lagoons

A 2-week intensive course on the environmental, sociological and economic management of coastal lagoons in collaboration with the University of Utrecht, and with the Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti. Topics covered: lagoon drivers: tides, waves, sediment, rise in sea level, lagoon ecosystem functions and services, water quality, ecological risk assessment, maritime law, environmental law conventions, harbour operations and port services, economical issues in port management and related problems.

Italian language and culture

Are you interested in learning Italian over the summer? Are you looking for a language programme that also gives you insight into the history and culture of Italy? Are you curious about what it's like to live in Venice? Choose our Italian language and culture programmes!

The SIE organises 2-week beginner and elementary Italian language programmes, and a 3-week intermediate programme, that include a culture module, along with the possibility of taking part in a range of activities that allow students to truly experience Venice.

Intensive Italian courses

If you are interested in learning Italian over a short period of time, this summer you can take an intensive language course at any level, from A1-C2. Each module consists of 40 hours of language teaching and takes place over 2 weeks and are taught by qualified native language experts. Upon conclusion of each module, students take a final test and will receive a certificate of participation.
