Crossings in Portuguese: research and education

On Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th February in the Aula Baratto you will find the international conference “Travessias em língua portuguesa: pesquisa e ensino”, run by Vanessa Castagna and Sandra Quarezemin, who will reunite scholars of the highest level from three continents. Opening the works is Professor Guglielmo Cinque, a Ca’ Foscari scholar and a figure of international reference in the field of linguistics. He will participate as a keynote speaker as well as the portugese João Costa, noted linguistic and currently Undersecretary to Education, and the Brazilian Mary Kato, pioneer in the study of linguistics in Brazil. As the title in Portuguese - the working language over the two days – indicates, the conference proposes to foment the dialogue between theory and applied linguistics in the field of the Portuguese language, at a time in which it has to deal with global challenges as third vehicular language, according to current data.
The organization for the convention was brought about at the presence of Professor Quarezemin, visiting professor from the Federal University of Santa Catarina, a University that Ca’ Foscari has important relations with.
