Ca’ Foscari University of Venice takes part to the Venice Glass Week 2017, between September 10th and 17th, with several initiatives: guided tours focusing on the glass collection of Ca’ Foscari and Ca’ Dolfin, an exhibition organized by Ca’ Foscari FabLab digital lab and a symposium glass and Murano organized by the Department of Management, “Vetro & Murano: dialoghi per un futuro imprenditoriale tra cultura, tradizione e innovazione”.
THE GLASS COLLECTION OF VENETIAN BUILDINGS: CA’ FOSCARI AND CA’ DOLFIN
On the occasion of the Venice Glass Week, Ca’ Foscari Tour offers an exploration of the glass collection of Ca’ Foscari and Ca’ Dolfin including chandeliers created by Murano glassmakers and appliques created by the architect Carlo Scarpa.
The guided tour is available in Italian, English, LIS (Italian sign language, upon request).

GLASS, PROTOTYPES AND 3D: A CA’ FOSCARI FAB_LAB EXHIBITION
The exhibition was organized and promoted by Ca’ Foscari FabLab workshop and the university Department of Management and supported by Murano Consorzio Promovetro, and hosted in the Chamber of Commerce of Venice Rovigo Delta Lagunare in Calle Larga XXIII Marzo.
The exhibition shows the results of a glass workshop in which glassmakers collaborated with 3D designers through quick prototyping tools (3D printing, Lasercutter, Frese CNC) to create innovative object and rethink glass making.

SYMPOSIUM Vetro & Murano: dialoghi per un futuro imprenditoriale tra cultura, tradizione e innovazione
The symposium is an opportunity of discussion between entrepreneurs, cultural organizers, institutions, and citizens from the results of a current research carried out by the Department of Management by professor Michele Tamma and Silvia Conte.
What is the value of the cultural elements in the glass production of Murano? How to enhance its origin and authenticity? What is the relationship between cultural institutions and such a “living culture”? These questions will be addressed.
The conference will finish with the presentation of the project “Glass Matters | Innovation through technology” (DEL_FabLab – Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, Department of Management, Consorzio Promovetro).
