On Monday December 4th, the ESN (Erasmus Students Network) Venezia with the support of the International Relation Office at Ca’ Foscari organized an event to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Erasmus program at 3pm at the Auditorium Santa Margherita.

Ca’ Foscari University of Venice has taken part in the program since 1987, giving thousands of Italian and international students the chance to learn a new language, discover a new culture and a new approach to learning in a life-changing experience both from a personal and academic perspective.

The University now has 554 Erasmus partnerships with 281 universities around Europe, offering increasing opportunities to its students and to those who are becoming part of its international community. In the a.y. 2017/18 632 students from Ca’ Foscari and 336 international students have taken part in the Erasmus + program.

The international students who decide to study at Ca’ Foscari can find support from the International Relations office for instance requesting a “buddy”, who is a Ca’ Foscari student who becomes their tutor for university life and invites them to cultural events. The buddy program is a unique opportunity of cultural and linguistic exchange for Italian and international students.

International students can also find support at the ESN (Erasmus Students Network) established in Copenhagen in 1990 with the support of the European Commission and now in over 30 countries, and Venice since 2011, to promote and support international mobility.

“We offer help and information to international students who come to study in Venice and organize trips, parties, activities to promote European integration, cultural visits and much more”, explained Alessia Berardi e Loris Muscò of ESN Venezia.  “For us ‘breaking down cultural barriers’ is not just a slogan but an attitude, a lifestyle. It requires training and perseverance, and we are convinced that international mobility is a lifetime opportunity for a long lasting training session”.

During the conference supported by Vice-Rector Tiziana Lippiello for Ca’ Foscari as well as the International Relations office and ESN Italia president Simone Acquaviva, AIESEC and Radio Ca’ Foscari participated.

The conference was a great occasion to present the experience of students and former students and staff members who have taken part in the Erasmus experience since 1987 which were projected in the Auditorium.
