Starting in the 2017/2018 academic year, students taking the undergraduate degree in Humanities have an exceptional international study opportunity. Ca’ Foscari University has signed an agreement with one of the world’s most prestigious universities, UCL University College London, activating a double degree in “Lettere” and Italian Studies / Italian and History of Art, achieved after the 4 years of study required by the British system. The degree programme is organised by the Department of Humanities at Ca’ Foscari and UCL’s Faculty of Arts & Humanities, and guarantees the highest standard of quality within the field of Humanities. Following enrolment (through UCL) students (10 for the inaugural year) spend the first two years in Venice at Ca’ Foscari, and the final two in London at UCL.

UCL is placed in the top ten of the QS World University Rankings and 29 Nobel Prize winners have in fact studied among its classrooms. Ca’ Foscari is among the top 200 of the same ranking for History, Economics / Econometrics and Modern Languages and the Department of Humanities is in fact 7th in all of Italy for the Bachelor’s degree in History with the University 9th overall nationally. Over the last few years Ca’ Foscari has broadly developed its international profile, accentuating the uniqueness of its host city within academic studies also. In Italy Ca’ Foscari finds itself in top place with 34 Marie Curie Individual Fellowships and it has been awarded 4 ERC research projects.

Educating a new generation of humanists is a unique occasion for bringing together the elevated competencies marking the degree programmes in both institutions with a prospective for opportunities in the job market and in research that is also characterized by a progressive internationalisation.
The 10 students participating (from all over the world) will need to know English and Italian and will be required to possess a convincing academic profile.
