Economist Michele Boldrin arrives at Ca’ Foscari to teach as part of the PhD in Economics and the Master's degree in Economics and Finance, within the Department of Economics.

The well-known economist, Joseph Gibson Hoyt Distinguished Professor of Economics at Washington University in St. Louis and already adviser of the Federal Reserve, will be at Ca’ Foscari for two academic years (2016-17 and 2017-2018) devoted to teaching and research projects in Financial economics.

Michele Bugliesi, Rector of Ca’ Foscari University of Venice: "We welcome the internationally renowned economist, Professor Michele Boldrin. This continues our investment in international recruitment which aims to lead Ca’ Foscari towards a renowned faculty, employed within foreign research institutions, to develop scientific projects related to research topics within our Departments as well as teaching our students. The internationalization, quality of our training and investment in research are commitments of priority at Ca’ Foscari, and ones which we devote a considerable part of our resources to, in order to offer the best opportunities to our students and researchers."

Michele Boldrin: "It is with great pleasure that I accepted the offer from the Department of Economics and Ca’ Foscari University (where I graduated almost 35 years ago) to contribute to the Master and PhD programmes as an “additional” professor. These programmes already have substantial national and international prestige and I am sure that, together, we can do some good things both in teaching and research, and in spreading the benefits of economic research to the public and, in particular, between both national and European trade. Ca’ Foscari is already one of the best Italian universities and is particularly noted within the fields of the economy and financial and business science. I hope to give my contribution to further improve the university's standing and to attract new Ca’ Foscari students and, even if only for a few months of the year as in my case, other colleagues from Italy and abroad."

Monica Billio, Director of the Department of Economics: "The research topics addressed by Michele Boldrin bind with the work done at Ca’ Foscari from the group of teachers in charge of financial economics, risk management and especially analysis of risks related to aging. His contribution to teaching and above all to research collaborations will pursue our ambitious plan to make Ca’ Foscari an international point of reference on these issues, both from the research side and, most importantly, their relevance to monetary actions and economic policy as a whole. The strengthening of research and teaching in the economic and financial fields will therefore be in connection with the activities carried out by the research centers of the Department. "

The involvement of Michele Boldrin will also allow Ca' Foscari to embark on major investments in education, focusing on the creation of an Master of economics at international level, which can now be developed with the support of relevant research conducted by Michele Boldrin, and also from other teachers and researchers at Ca’ Foscari.
