From 5th-9th June Ca’ Foscari will run Research Communication Week 2017, an entire week of meetings, training and in-depth analyses aimed principally at researchers to understand and experiment with communication and public engagement tools. Professors, researchers, research assistants and PhD students are all invited to participate.

The focus of this first edition is the visibility of researchers in the media, with different workshops to learn how to handle interviews and contact with journalists in the best way. It will also discuss social media, communication in the field of archaeology and science communication. Within the program there is also a day entirely dedicated to a public speaking course. The workshop has limited places, to participate please register by the 23rd May 2017.

During this week there are also a series of events open to anyone. On Monday 5th June, the week will open with a seminar on “Engaging Inclusively. Diversity and Inclusion in Public Engagement”, given by Ca’ Foscari professor Giulia Bencini and focusing on visual communication, media and economics, and IT security. There will also be a special workshop covering communication in and of research projects on 8th June.

The initiative is run by Ca' Foscari University, collaborating with its departments, Sustainable Ca’ Foscari, Digital Enterprise Lab, and organizations such as the Venetian District for Research and Innovation (DVRI), the Association of Veneto Journalists, and the Science Writers in Italy association.

The week is part of the new activities put in place for research communication: an online tool has recently been activated to present the content of publications, and thus the results reached by Ca’ Foscari researchers, to the Communication Office through a guided procedure.
