Ankara gives an honorary doctorate degree to Maria Pia Pedani

On February 26th professor Maria Pia Pedani received an honorary doctorate degree in Turkology awarded by Ankara University.

The prestigious recognition was conferred to the professor by the rector of the University, Erkan İbiş, for her significant contribution to Turkish history and culture.

During the ceremony the former Italian ambassador in Turkey Carlo Marsili and the conductor Antonio Pirolli were given honorary doctorate degrees as well.

Professor Pedani teaches History of Islamic Countries in the Department of Asian and North African Studies and has been part of Ca' Foscari since 1999.

She received many awards during her career for her essay, she has been collaborating with the State Archives in Venice and she was part of the scientific committees of international journals and symposia in her field of study.
