CILS (Certificazione di italiano come lingua straniera) is an officially recognized qualification which certifies the level of Italian as a second language, and which is primarily aimed at providing official documentation for foreign citizens who wish to demonstrate their language ability in order to meet work or study requirements.
The exam can be taken at the University’s Language Center (CLA), in collaboration with the Università per Stranieri di Siena during two periods of the year, in June and December.
The CILS Centre will publish the results on the Università per Stranieri website and will email the results to each centre within 2 to 4 months, depending on the level and number of candidates.

Next date for the CILS examinations is June 8.
SIE organizes courses which prepare students to the exam for the CILS qualification.
Courses are for levels B1, B2, C1 and C2.
The cost for each course of four meetings is €90, to be transferred by bank transfer following confirmation of course activation.
To enrol in the courses please fill in the online form by May 24 th, 2017; following the deadline students will receive a confirmation email with payment details.
Courses will only be activated if a minimum number of participants is reached.
Students must enrol separately for the CILS exam. The deadline for enroling for the exam is April 28th
