The SIGN-HUB documentary
24 June 2020, online

On Wednesday 24 June, at 6 pm, the online premiere of the documentary "We were there, we are here" has taken place during the FEAST online conference, after a short introduction by some of the people involved in its production.

The movie is based on the life stories by elderly Deaf signers, which have been collected in the 7 participating countries as part of the SIGN-HUB project.

FEAST 2020: online!
23-25 June 2020, online

FEAST has been the official SIGN-HUB conference for the duration of the project. FEAST is a regular forum to discuss formal approaches to sign language grammar (in particular in the generative tradition), experimental approaches to sign languages, and their interaction.

This year, the conference has been held online and several SIGN-HUB members have been presenting the results of their research.

TISLR13 CONFERENCE
26-28 September 2019, Hamburg (Germany)

TISLR 13, the 13th conference of Theoretical Issues in Sign Language Research, was held at the University of Hamburg (September 26-28, 2019). Some SIGN-HUB researchers presented their studies and discussed the results with the people attending the conference.

Exhibition ’Life stories of elderly Deaf people‘
15 January - 28 February 2019, Göttingen (Germany)

The Göttingen group is one of the SIGN HUB teams involved in the collection, annotation, and analysis of the life stories of elderly Deaf people. They organized an exhibition at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, in which they showed posters, objects, and videos from their work.

Workshop ’Beyond Media and Convergence accessibility cluster: a European perspective on accessibility‘
5 February 2019, Brussels (Belgium)

This workshop on accessibility issues was jointly organized by the coordinators of SIGN-HUB and three other European projects (CONTENT4ALLEASYTVImAc). The aim of the workshop was to present each project goals, their current achievements and future developments. International Sign (IS) interpreting has been be provided.

2nd Review Meeting
13-14 December 2018, Milan (Italy)

On December 13-14, 2018 researchers coordinating the different tasks of the project met in Milan to report to EU reviewers on the advances of the project.

  

  

Workshop ‘Sign Language grammars through the formal and experimental glass’
25 July 2018, Rethymnon, Crete (Greece)

This workshop has been hosted by the University of Crete in Rethymnon, within the CreteLing Summer School 2018. Several SIGN-HUB researchers have delivered the talks.
In addition, the workshop has hosted a poster session.

7th Colloquium in Formal and Experimental Advances in Sign language Theory (FEAST)
18-20 June 2018, Venice (Italy)

FEAST is the official conference of the SIGN-UB project. It is a regular forum to discuss formal approaches to sign language grammar (in particular in the generative tradition), experimental approaches to sign languages, and their interaction.

SIGN-HUB CNRS Thematic School in Sign Language Linguistics
11-15 June 2018, Villa Grumello, Como Lake (Italy)

The SIGN-HUB and CNRS Summer School addresses theoretical and experimental issues in sign language linguistics, sign language assessment and Deaf history.
It is open to Master students, graduate students and junior researchers.

Workshop on Assessment
9-11 November 2017, Rome (Italy)

A few SIGN-HUB representatives attended the 'Assessing Sign Language in clinical and classroom environment: learning from experience exchange' workshop at the Istituto Statale per Sordi di Roma.
During the workshop, Jordina Sánchez Amat and Giorgia Zorzi discussed how SIGN-HUB is developing lexical and syntactical assessment tools.
Chiara Branchini, another member of the SIGN-HUB project, was also invited to the workshop to present the 'Sign Language teaching and assessment at Ca' Foscari University of Venice.'

6th Colloquium in Formal and Experimental Advances in Sign language Theory (FEAST)

SIGN-HUB and Labex Summer School Gargnano
8-12 May 2017, Gargnano, Garda Lake (Italy)

The SIGN-HUB Summer School 2017 addressed theoretical and experimental issues in sign language linguistics including research in the domains of the phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics of sign languages.
