Paolo Delorenzi è professore associato di Museologia e critica artistica e del restauro (L-ART/04) presso il Dipartimento di Studi Umanistici dell’Università Ca’ Foscari di Venezia, dove svolge attività di docenza nei corsi di laurea in Conservazione e gestione dei beni e delle attività culturali e di laurea magistrale in Storia delle arti e conservazione dei beni artistici.
Laureato in Storia delle Arti e Conservazione dei Beni Artistici, ha conseguito nel 2011 presso l’ateneo veneziano il dottorato di ricerca in Storia dell’arte, con indirizzo in Storia dell’arte moderna (tesi: Alessandro Longhi, pittore e incisore del Settecento veneziano). Ha poi usufruito di assegni di ricerca nell’ambito dei settori scientifico-disciplinari L-ART/02 (Il ritratto nella società veneziana tra Sei e Settecento) e L-ART/04 (Notizie d’arte e di critica nei fogli informativi e nei periodici veneziani del Settecento).
Ha lavorato presso la Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia occupandosi di catalogazione e informatizzazione secondo i criteri dell’ICCD. È stato inoltre collaboratore della Fondazione Giorgio Cini di Venezia per la rivista “Arte Veneta” (fascia A - ANVUR). Collabora tuttora con musei e istituzioni per mostre, convegni e conferenze.
Ha ricevuto incarichi di ricerca e catalogazione da enti sia pubblici che privati (Fondazione Giorgio Cini di Venezia - Istituto Regionale delle Ville Venete, Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia - Comitati privati per la Salvaguardia di Venezia - UNESCO, Museo Civico di Treviso, Banco Popolare, Banca Intesa Sanpaolo - Gallerie d’Italia).
Ha partecipato come relatore a numerosi convegni nazionali e internazionali, in Italia, Francia e Germania, occupandosi di temi di storia dell’arte moderna e di critica artistica.
È autore della monografia La galleria di Minerva. Il ritratto di rappresentanza nella Venezia del Settecento (2009) e dell'edizione critica del Compendio delle vite de' pittori veneziani istorici più rinomati del presente secolo di Alessandro Longhi (2022).
La sua attività scientifica riguarda in particolare la ritrattistica veneta d’ancien régime, la storia artistica e conservativa del Palazzo Ducale di Venezia e delle opere in esso custodite, la diffusione in area veneta delle raccolte di modelli decorativi e architettonici nel XVIII secolo, la storia delle esposizioni d’arte nella Serenissima in età barocca, la figura di Anton Maria Zanetti il Vecchio come collezionista e promotore delle arti, i periodici antichi, sia manoscritti che a stampa, come fonti per la critica d’arte.
Ha conseguito l’Abilitazione Scientifica Nazionale (ASN) alle funzioni di professore universitario di seconda fascia per il settore concorsuale 10/B1 - Storia dell’arte (01/10/2018-01/10/2027).
