The Long History of the Mizrahim: New Directions in the Study of Jews from Muslim Countries

Online seminar

The Long History of the Mizrahim: New Directions in the Study of Jews from Muslim Countries
In Tribute to Yaron Tsur

The seminar will gather scholars in the field of Jewish history and Sephardi and Mizrahi Studies, that will discuss their work and that of Yaron Tsur, one of the most prominent Israeli historians - that dedicated his entire career to the study of the Jews of the Islamic world - and to whom the edited volume The Long History of the Mizrahim (Ben-Gurion University of the Negev: Beer-Sheva, 2020) was recently dedicated. It will also be an occasion to see how scholars from different academic traditions - or working on the so-called Mizrahim on the one hand, and on Sephardi Jews more generally on the other - look at the history of North Africa and the Middle East.
