New Studies on the Origins of the Washington Consensus and its Global Impact

videoconferenza

This online seminar (via Zoom) will focus on the recently-published special issue of the Rivista italiana di storia internazionale (n. 2, 2020) devoted to the origins of the “Washington Consensus” and its global implications, taking into account issues such as the crisis of development aid; the emergence of structural adjustment lending; the genesis of the 1980s international debt crisis and the transformation of the international financial order. This seminar will be the occasion for an in-depth discussion of new research trends on the evolution of the global economic and financial order in the twilight of the Cold War, and its historical legacy.
