This course consists in gaining a general knowledge of the earth natural resources, the genesis of mineral deposits and energetic resources, and the environmental impacts related to their use. Applications and in-depth analysis by means of the stable isotope geochemistry are foreseen, in particular the ones related to water resources and hydrocarbons.

Classification of the main earth resources and their location in the Earth system. Basic knowledge of mineral formation. Fundamental resources (air, water and soil). Energy resources, fossil fuels, renewable and alternative resources. Mineral resources. Quarries (gravel and stone materials). Mines (mineral bodies and recovery). Technical gases. Basic concepts of isotope geochemistry and analytical methods. Applications of stable isotope geochemistry to hydrology and hydrocarbon studies.
