1. Knowledge and understanding
Module: Textual properties (adequacy, coherence, cohesion), discourse markers, textual tipology, argumentative discourse, Spanish language for academic purposes.
Yearlong course: grammatical, lexical, pragmatic and discursive contents at C1 Level of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
2.Applying knowledge and understanding
Be able to analyze a text by properly applying the method; to distinguish between lexical meaning and procedural meaning; to identify and recognize the different types of discourse markers; to describe the grammatical and semantic characteristics of the most frequent discourse markers in Spanish as opposed to those of Italian language; to recognize and describe the main features of texts and text types of the Spanish for academic purposes; to understand and produce written and oral texts with the degree of correction, coherence and adequacy required at the level C1 of the CEFR; to interact in a colloquial conversation with the degree of adequacy required at the level C1 of the CEFR.
3. Making judgments
Ability to gather the relevant data to make judgments about the discursivity and the adequacy of the text; to apply the theoretical and methodological knowledge to the interpretation of the discourse data; to integrate class notes and readings with the information obtained in the on-line sources suggested by the teacher.
4. Communication skills
Being able to explain the linguistic topics of the module in a clear, well-structured, academic written test; to expose and argue on a linguistic topic or on current social topic or cultural issue with the degree of fluency, correction and adequacy expected at the level C1 of the CEFR for the oral academic presentations; to interact with the degree of fluency and adequacy expected at the C1 level.
5. Learning skills
Capacity for analysis and synthesis; for self-assessment, for bibliographical research and for planning and drafting the final thesis research.

Type of exam
1. a written exam (A) consisting of a) questions about the theoretical contents; b) an expository writing (10 points). The test aims at assessing the understanding of theoretical contents, the ability to text analysis and the ability to explain linguistic topics in academic writing style. (30 points, worth 60% of the final mark). Duration: 90 ' (30 points, worth 60% of the final mark).
2. a written exam (B) for assessing the linguistic competence (level C1) consisting of a grammar test (multiple choice, gap-filling cloze, translation) (20 points) and a composition (10 points ). (worth 30% of the final mark). Duration: 60 minutes.
3. an oral test for assessing the oral communicative competence (C1 level) (30 points) (10% of the final grade). Duration: 15 minutes: 5 minutes for interaction; 5 minutes for the oral presentation of a linguistic, cultural or current topic and 5 minutes about a narrative fiction.
In order to get an overall pass in Spanish Language 1 (LT0051) or Hispano-American Language 1 (LT005Q) courses, students are required to get a pass on all three parts (A, B, C). Written tests take place on the same day; the oral part takes place during the academic year (II semester).
Passing the written test A allows the student to maintain the partial mark for the entire academic year. Failure in the written exam A invalidates the written test B and the student will be required to repeat both the written tests in the next exam session.
Students holding a DELE certificate of C1 level (or higher) previously granted are not required to take the written parts B and C if and only if i) the date in which the certificate was obtained is not more than two years prior to the date of the exam; ii) they provide the lecturer with a paper or electronic copy (both sides) of the certificate. No other certificates are accepted.
Language training (full-year course)
The program is the same for attending and non-attending students.
The mandatory bibliography is available in the moodle course activated in the on-line platform of the University.
Non-attending students are encouraged to contact the teacher at the beginning of the academic year and the beginning of the second semester.
