Course objectives
Crimea and Caucasus in Russia history and culture

The course aims to introduce the students to the meaning of Crimea and Caucasus in Russian history and culture, from the Tsarist time up to our days.

Contents
Geographical, historical, and cultural specificity of Russia; the imperial expansion toward Crimea and Caucasus; the meaning of these regions in the Russian culture; Crimea and Caucasus in Soviet time; Caucasus and Crimea after the fall of Soviet Union.
