Course objectives
The aim of the course is to analyse the role of the public sector. The focus will be on exploring the reasons behind government intervention, its impact, and the use of taxes to finance public sector activities.
Principles of Economics - Microeconomics

3. Public sector revenues
3.1 Taxation theory: general aspects and basic concepts
3.2 Taxation: distributive principles
3.3 Issues in the design of personal income taxation
3.4 Distortionary effects of taxation
3.5 Tax incidence in partial equilibrium analysis
4. The italian tax system

Type of exam
Assessment methods
Written exam to be completed in one hour. Includes different types of questions covering theory, definitions, TRUE/FALSE statements, analytical and numerical exercises.
Teaching methods
The course follows a conventional teaching approach.
Teaching language
The exam is written; it includes about 4 questions of different type: theoretical ones, true/false statements, analytical and numerical exercises. It lasts about 1 hour.
