Course objectives
The general objectives of this course are two: on one hand, to reinforce students’ linguistic and communicative skills (C1 level); on the other hand, to reinforce students’ grammatical knowledge with particular attention to the text and discourse.

Contents
The theoretical contents of this course are organized in two parts:

First part: Theoretical instruments for textual analysis
The concept of text and discourse: Textual gramar and/or Discourse analysis. Main types of text. Context and contextual factors. Super-, macro- and micro-strutture. Mechanisms of discourse coherence: semantic associations, textual deixis, discourse markers.

Second part: The argomentative discourse.
Oral and writtten discourse. Types of arguments.
