Course objectives
The aim of this part of the the course is provide the students with the basic principles and laws of Chemistry with a special reference to Restoration technique field.
Pre-requirements
Chemical bond: Ionic Bonds; Nonpolar and polar covalent bonds; Electronegativity;Lewis structures; resonance structures; the Octet Rule; Valence Bond theory; V.S.E.P.R. theory; Molecular Orbilat theory; intermolecular forces: dipole-dipole attraction;
hydrogen bonding; London forces.
Chemical equilibrium of homogeneous and heterogeneous systems: Equilibrium constants and expression; reaction quotient; Le Chatelier Priciple.
Acids and bases: pH, degree of dissociation, buffer.
Solubility product and common ion effect.
Redox equilibria,Nernst equation,standard reduction potentials,electrichemical cells.
