A first acquaintance with ancient philosophy. Analysis of some ancient philosophical texts.
Basic knowledge of the history of philosophy, as requested in the enrolment test. Students cannot follow this part without having followed before the first part of the course.

Students from high schools with no teaching of history of philosophy should read a general history of ancient philosophy, as, for instance: J. Annas, Ancient Philosophy: A Very Short Introduction, Oxford University Press, 2001 or A. Kenny, Ancient Philosophy: A New History of Western Philosophy Volume 1, Oxford University Press, 2007.
