- Knowledge of theoretical, methodological and operational tools related to latin paleography form 7th cent. BC to 16th AD;
- Comprehensive understanding of the principal critical tools for the socio-historical analysis of the written heritage and overview of the techniques of transmission, valorisation and effective communication of acquired information, related to the early Roman period to the Modern Age, in the whole mediterranean and european area;
- Ability to critically intervene on complex systems of documents and manuscripts, with particular reference to the knowledge of written artifacts preceding Modern Age;
- Ability to deliver a critical edition of a text.

- Knowledge of latin writing system history from its origins to XVI century;
- Ability to transcribe and to identfy date and place of origin of the principal latin writing systems in manuscripts and documents from 7th BC to 16th AD;
- Ability to critically apply theoretical methodological tools learnt, from the analysis of the codicological support of written text to the palaeographic analysis of documents and manuscripts;
- Ability to analyse complex written manufacts, including manuscripts and documents, in particular those dating back to the early Roman civilisation (7th BC) until the Modern Age.

Principal latin writing systems from epigraphical context of the Roman Age to early Modern Age;
General principles for critical edition of texts in manuscripts and documents.

the examination includes the reading, recognition and contextualization of some of the main medieval writings
lessons;
classroom reading exercise;
visit to libraries and archives for the knowledge of the cultural heritage preserved in the city of Venice.
