IThis module concerns the study and observation, during enviromental exercises, of macrophytic communities (macroalgae and seagrass) in the lagoon and marine-coastal environments, through an ecological approach.
The different phases for the evaluation of the ecological status of transitional and marine-coastal water bodies will also be deal, through the analysis of the macrophytic EQB (Elements of Biological Quality), according to the European Framework Directive2000/60CE. This activity will be carried out during enviromental and laboratory activities.
The sampling and monitoring techniques will be illustrated, particularly during enviromental exercises, through the analysis and measurement of the chemist -physical parameters in various environmental matrices. Detailed studies may also be offered through seminars conducted by experts.
The student will have to learn the different macrophytic communities of the transitional and coastal-marine environments and their ecological relationships. Furthermore, the student will have to acquire knowledge on the evaluation of Environmental Quality, through Ecological Status Indexes based on the macrophyte community. Finally, the student will have to learn the different sampling and monitoring techniques for the study of the physical-chemical parameters of these environments.
Ecology and applied ecology bases
Study and observation of macrophytic communities (macroalgae and seagrass) of transition and marine-coastal environments, through an ecological approach
Evaluation of the Ecological Statust of the transition and marine-coastal environments through the use of macrophytes communities, as bioindicators.
Analysis and measurements of physico-chemical parameters, of nutrients in different environmental matrices. The Enviromental and laboratory activities can improve knowledge on the ecological and taxonomic of macrophytes.
Slides, notes and supplementary materials will provided to students
Preparation of a report summarizing both the field and lab acitvity, with the analysis and data elaboration about the two analyzed communities (macrophytes and benthos).
Frontal lessons and seminars by local experts; field sampling; laboratory and numerical analyses
Italian
Partecipation to the field/lab activity is mandatory
written and oral

This subject deals with topics related to the macro-area "Natural capital and environmental quality" and contributes to the achievement of one or more goals of U. N. Agenda for Sustainable Development
