Know and understand the production dynamics of printed texts and their relationship with manuscript texts from the Middle Ages.

Being able to focus on the critical debate on studied topics, so that the student can then formulate hypotheses on various issues in the discipline.

To learn and understand the main historical, cultural, religious and literary events of the Slavic world by acquiring knowledge of the publishing activity of Orthodox and Catholic Slavs in Venice in the 16th-18th centuries.

history of Venice and the Balcans XVI-XVIII c.

Presentation of editorial activity of Orthodox and Catholic Slavs in Venice in the 16th, 17th and 18th Century. Special consideration will be given to Vukovic’s works, as well as to the Franciscan and other editorial initiatives. The cultural situation in renaissance Venice and the political context of Balkan territories will discussed.

The exam consists or of preparation of a paper dedicated to the topic agreed with the teacher about two months before the exam (about 20,000 characters), or of a translation of the ancient text into Italian. The second part of the exam is the discussion on the topics of the module and on the texts analyzed in classroom.

Each group will have different tasks:

[LM001Z-1] the typographical production in Venice compared with the cultural situation in the Balkans and the translation of a sixteenth-century text;

[LM004Z] the typographical production in Venice, reading of a text in the original language and translation of the text chosen in Italian

[LM3260] the typographical production in Venice compared with the cultural situation in the Balkans and with European cultural dynamics
