The translation of the literary text and of the multimedia text from the Czech into Italian

The course includes a first part devoted to the study of the theory of translation and the peculiarities of the Czech-Italian interlinguistic translation (realia, specificity of the linguistic systems, use of the text). The characteristics of the literary text will then be analyzed in reference to the translation process through the analysis of published translations of texts of Czech literature. The second part of the course is dedicated to the translation of the multimedia text (medium-constrained translation) and in particular to that of comics, which will analyze the specificities in relation to the criticalities of multimedia translation.
The course includes proof of translation by the students of texts of which there is a translation published as texts never translated into Italian.

Non-attending students: criticality of literary translation from Czech to Italian.

Non-attending students are required to contact the teacher previously.
The course includes a part devoted to the study of the theory of translation with respect to the peculiarities of the Czech-Italian interlingual translation (realia, specificity of linguistic systems, use of the text) and a part of analysis and comparison of the published translations of texts of Czech literature. In particular on the different translations, in Italian but also in other languages, of two texts of Czech literature: Prague Tales by Jan Neruda The Good Soldier Švejk by Jaroslav Hašek
The study of the theory of translation involves the acquisition of terminology and methodological tools for the evaluation of the translation process. The translation part of the translation aims at the application of the acquired knowledge through the analysis of the linguistic peculiarities of the text and an articulated comparison of the different translation choices and the criticalities faced by the translators.
The comparison provides that the student works with translation tests performed by him of extracts from the texts in analysis according to certain critical issues highlighted in the analysis phase of the original text.
The assessment of learning takes place through a written test and an oral test. The written test consists of exercises, original written production and translation from Czech into Italian with the aim of ascertaining the skills acquired during the language practice hours and the module. During the written test the use of books, notes, electronic media is not allowed.
During the oral examination the student must demonstrate knowledge of the topics developed during the course and know how to expose them in a way
formal.
The course consists of a frontal part and a seminar part. For the seminar part, students must prepare oral presentations on topics indicated through the study of critical texts and individual translation tests which will then be discussed in the classroom.
