In recent years, digital technology has deeply affected film production and distribution alike. Despite the general emphasis on the positive implications of digital disruption in terms of freedom, democratization and disintermediation, the digital impact on production and distribution is more complex and nuanced and needs to be carefully discussed.
The lecture aims to:
• provide an overview of the main effects of digital technologies on film production, promotion and di-stribution;
• focus on the forms and strategies of crowdsourcing and crowdfunding in the field of film production;
• focus on video on demand (VOD) platforms in the field of online distribution: main players, business models, libraries and user experience.
