TEATRO IN LINGUA INGLESE

L’obiettivo del corso è completare lo sviluppo delle conoscenze e delle competenze acquisite nei primi due anni del curriculum letterario-culturale nel corso triennale di Lingue, Civiltà e Scienze del Linguaggio, al fine di consolidare la formazione di base degli studenti per quanto riguarda la storia della letteratura e della cultura inglese. A tale scopo il corso si concentrerà sul periodo Rinascimentale (secoli XVI e XVII), tendendo ad accrescere nello studente la conoscenza dei principali fenomeni letterari inquadrati nel loro contesto storico e culturale (artistico, filosofico, epistemico).

E' scopo del corso affinare nello studente la capacità di utilizzare strumenti e metodologie di analisi oltre che di raggiungere autonomia di giudizio critico e una buona abilità di scrittura accademica e di comunicazione orale, in prospettiva della stesura dell’elaborato di tesi triennale e dell’eventuale passaggio alla laurea magistrale.

Le lezioni si terranno in inglese, perciò lo studente deve essere in grado di comprendere e di argomentare criticamente su temi di letteratura e di cultura del Rinascimento inglese.
Si consiglia agli studenti di leggere i drammi del programma prima dell'inizio del corso.

Shakespearean Metatheatre

The course will deal with the aspects of Shakespeare’s plays that draw attention to their status as dramatic or theatrical texts. References to acting, consciousness of the presence of the audience, hints at the theatrical event, are just a few of the devices employed by drama in order to refer to itself. Topics of the course will be: the structure of Elizabethan theatres, issues of acting, different features of the performances, as well as the relations of metadrama to the Renaissance worldview.

Lo studente dovrà dimostrare in un esame orale di conoscere i testi primari e quelli critici sull'argomento del corso; dovrà altresì provare 1) di conoscere il contesto storico-culturale del periodo early modern, 2) di saper applicare strumenti di analisi testuale e 3) di articolare giudizi autonomi sui testi analizzati. L'esame si svolgerà in lingua inglese.
