Short Curriculum 

Margherita Naim studied at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and at IUAV University of Venice, where she obtained an Interuniversity PhD degree in History of Art. 

Currently, she is academic collaborator at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz — Max-Planck-Institut, and adjunct professor of History and Technique of Photography and Film at the University of Turin (2019-2022 AYs).

Previously, she also taught History of photography in Bachelor’s and Master's degree courses at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice (2015-2018 AYs).

Furthermore, she teaches archiving, conservation, cataloguing and promotion of photographic materials and photomechanical materials for typography, in extra-curricular courses held at universities and in training and further education courses held at conservation institutes.

In particular, since 2017 she has been Professor of Archiving of Photography at IUAV Master course in Photography, in Venice. Since 2011, she has taught courses in Cataloguing of photographic materials (F-Photography and FF-Photographic Funds) at: Ca’ Foscari University, the Photo Library of Municipal History and Art Museums in Trieste, the University of Verona, the Central Institute for Cataloguing and Documentation (ICCD, Rome), the University of Udine, the Querini Stampalia Foundation, and the University of Pavia.

She has coordinated or has taken part in photographic archive management projects held at: the MPI-Ministry of Public Education Photographic Collection (ICCD, Rome, 2016-2017); the Italo Zannier Archive - Fondazione di Venezia (2016); the Photographic Archive of the Veneto University of Sciences, Arts and Letters (Venice, 2013); the Pier Maria Pasinetti Archive at the Inter-university Centre of Venetian Studies (CISVe, Venice, 2013); the Historical Archives of Contemporary Arts (ASAC, Venice, 2012); the Sergio Bettini Photo Library - Ca’ Foscari University (2012); the Historical Archive of the Circolo Fotografico La Gondola (Venice, 2009); the Historical Photographic Archive of Ca’ Foscari University (2009).

She has also contributed to the development of projects aimed to capitalise on and promote the photographic collection of Gianni Berengo Gardin - Olivetti’s Historical Archive in Ivrea (AASO, 2018-2020), the photographic archive of the Province of Treviso (FAST, 2018), the photographic archive of Francesco Pasinetti (Carlo Montanaro Archive, Venice, 2013), the photographic archive of the Municipal Museum of Riva del Garda (MAG, Trento, 2012).
