LANGUAGE ASSISTANT COURSE ENROLLMENT (PERIODS 1 AND 2 AA 2023 2024

Dear Students,
Due to the limited seating capacity of the classroom , please write an e-mail to the language assistant (using your university account), specifying exactly which course you wish to attend and in which period. Only those who have written to the language assistant will be accepted. Please also enrol on the course Moodle pages for information, material etc. Remember that the courses are repeated in the second period.
NB: Attendance is not mandatory and the written and oral parts of the exam can be taken as non-attendees.
COURSE SYLLABUS: CULTURAL HERITAGE AND ARTS MANAGEMENT I SEMESTER 2023 2024

FIRST SEMESTER 2023 2024: ENGLISH LANGUAGE SYLLABUS FOR STUDENTS OF CULTURAL HERITAGE AND ARTS MANAGEMENT
(DOTT.SSA PICELLO A-L, DOTT.SSA BONICELLI, M-Z)
EXAM
The exam consists of 3 parts: a written exam, an oral assessment by the language assistants and the final monographic exam. Students must pass the written exam and oral assessment before sitting the final monographic exam. Students must also have passed the B1 test.
1) Writing (Language assistants)
Students can choose one of the handouts below, which are available on the course Moodle pages:
E. GLENTON: Academic Writing Skills for the Humanities
F. GEBHARDT: Professional English
- Guided writing of academic essays and writing a job application (CV, cover letter, personal statement)
ATTENDEES: One 3-hour lesson per week for 5 weeks, with a final short test in week 6. An example of the test can be found on the course Moodle pages. Students can only miss one lesson.
NON-ATTENDEES: Students will sit a written exam during the exam session based on the two handouts, Academic Writing and Professional English. An example of the written exam can be found on the course Moodle pages.
2) Reading and Discussion (Language assistants)
F. GEBHARDT: English for Cultural Heritage (Cafoscarina)
E. GLENTON: Professional English: Arts Management (Cafoscarina)
- Reading comprehension and discussion of texts related to topics on cultural heritage and arts management.
ATTENDEES: Two 90-minute lessons a week for 5 weeks. Students who attend lessons will have an oral assessment at the end of the course. Students can only miss two lessons.
NON-ATTENDEES: Students choose any 6 texts from the book and summarise them, paying attention to grammar (tenses etc.), lexis and correct pronunciation. The language assistant will choose one of these at the exam.
All marks are kept on a list and are valid for one year.
3) Monographic part (Dott.ssa Bonicelli e Dott.ssa Picello)

ORGANISATION OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE COURSES [FT0130] AA.2023/2024

The English Language courses (monographic course and language assistant courses) have been divided into the following:
I semester (I and II periods): Cultural Heritage and Arts management students.
Exam sessions will take place at the end of the II period in December (A-L and M-Z students), in January (A-L and M-Z students), in June (A-L and M-Z students) and August/September (A-L and M-Z students).
Attendees of the Language assistant courses will sit a test at the end of the course.
II semester (III and IV periods): Letters, History and Philosophy.
Exam sessions will take place at the end of the III period (A-L students and M-Z students), in June (A-L and M-Z students), August/September (A-L and M-Z students) and January (A-L and M-Z students).
Attendees of the Language assistant courses will sit a test at the end of the course.
