Ca' Foscari and Warwick: new international task force for joint research

Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and the English University of Warwick, Coventry have signed a new partnership agreement that includes a research project on Venice and its links with Asia.

The agreement will involve collaboration on several levels: teaching, with the exchange of students and teachers, the creation of double degrees, study-abroad programmes and summer schools, internships for students of the two universities; scientific, with the launch of a pilot project on the historical, cultural and commercial links betweenVenice and the Silk Road.Warwick, in particular, will fund a 2-year post-doctoral scholarship to study the links between Venice and the East from the Middle Ages to the contemporary age.

Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and the University of Warwick, which has an important presence in Venice, have been working together for a long time on projects like Erasmus exchanges and the “Warwick in Venice” programme (specific courses organised in Venice and open to students of both institutions in the field of History and History of Art).

The presentation of the project has been attended by: Prof. Tiziana Lippiello, Vice Rector of Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and delegate to international relations, Prof. Mike Shipman, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International), University of Warwick. Prof. Luca Molà, Director of Warwick in Venice.

At Ca’ Bottacin, which already serves as headquarters for international advanced research centers, researchers from both Ca’ Foscari and Warwick will work together to study the history of Venice through the centuries and its connections with Asia"
