The 5th year of Ca' Foscari International College officially opens on Friday September 30th Aula Magna at Ca' Dolfin. Gianpiero Dalla Zuanna, demographer at the University of Padua and senator of the Italian Republic, will hold the opening lecture.

Gianpiero Dalla Zuanna, a demographer at the University of Padua, senator of the Italian Republic and author of the book "Tutto quello che non vi hanno mai detto sull’immigrazione", will hold the opening lecture centered on one of the most important issues facing our society today: migration and the real contribution of migrants to the Italian economy.
The ceremony, attended by the Rector of Ca' Foscari, will be a meeting point for students, teachers, fellow supporters and friends who are home to the Venetian International College.

Big things are to come for the 61 collegiate enrolled in different degree programmes of Ca' Foscari: the additional cultural program this year allows them to attend one of the three courses dedicated to areas of study of international importance, of which the Venetian University excels. These are Global Asian studies, Digital Humanities and Sustainability.
Agar Brugiavini, Head of the College, explains: "These courses, designed with a three-year development, are defined as complementary minors that come in conjunction with undergraduate degree majors at the university which students are required to follow in order to obtain adequate credit points. In this way, at the end of university, a student of Economics and Finance, for example, can also graduate with a minor in Global Asian Studies, a Philosophy student can also have a minor in Sustainability and a linguist can also get a diploma in Digital Humanities, thus having an expanded knowledge of diverse areas of expertise, which is especially appreciated in the world of work."
The college program also includes a compulsory period abroad, trips, collective experiences and interdisciplinary workshops that help students develop additional skills, such as learning how to work in groups, solving complex cases, writing well or speaking in public, all of which are very important for any future career or study path. The College is the first example of its kind in Italy between the schools of excellence. It also boasts positive results of its graduate students, who work in enterprises and large-scale businesses, such as Google, or researchers who are continuing with Master's or PhD programmes in Europe and around the world.
