Ca’ Foscari has been selecting and preparing aspiring cyber defenders. The best defenders will be part of the Italian team in the European Cybersecurity Challenge next Autumn in London. It will be a unique opportunity to learn, have fun and lay the foundations of a fascinating career in cybersecurity.

CyberChallenge.IT 2018 is a free of charge training programme for young students between 16 and 22 years of age that will take place this Spring in 8 universities including Ca’ Foscari University of Venice.

The program will climax in a local and a national challenge between the 8 participating Italian universities. The best participants will get the opportunity to become members of the Italian cyber-defender National Team.

Ca’ Foscari University of Venice aims to be a core of excellence in the light of the recent outcome in international cybersecurity competitions: Ca’ Foscari students (Francesco Benvenuto and Lorenzo Veronese) helped the Italian cyberdefender National Team to shine in the finals of the European Cybersecurity Challenge in Spain in 2017, while the coach was Marco Squarcina, Ca’ Foscari research grant holder, coordinator of CyberChallenge.IT with professor Riccardo Focardi and member of the national organizing committee.

Ca’ Foscari has a curriculum in Cyber Security for students to experiment with attack and defense techniques in a controlled and safe environment. The university is also the headquarters of c00kies@venice, ethical hacking team established in 2009 which can boast many international successes including the bronze medal at the RuCTFe 2017, one of the most important competitions for cyberdefense, last December.
