The international universities rowing palio will reach its 7th edition this year on September 2nd as part of the Historical Regatta. This year IUAV and Ca’ Foscari University of Venice will be joined by the universities of Harvard, Lausanne and Warwick.

The International Universities Rowing Race in the Grand Canal, organised by the Ca’  Foscari University of Venice, has been held since 2004 on board of historical galleons on the occasion of the Historical Regatta.

The challenge will take place in two steps: the selection of first and second place teams (Final A) and third and fourth place teams (Final B) followed by the 750 meters final races between Rialto Bridge and Ca’ Foscari University of Venice in the Grand Canal.

The award ceremony will take place at the central headquarters of Ca’ Foscari University, immediately after the race.

The winners will earn the international universities rowing palio trophy offered by the New Murano Gallery srl, art glass factory. Designed by a glass master, the trophy was inspired by the shape of a paddle. The teams who will arrive in second and third place will be awarded a Venetian golden medal.
