The philosopher and the artist. The thoughts of Wittgenstein and work of Paolozzi

Between Wednesday, November 23rd 2016 - Friday, November 25th 2016, an international conference entitled "The philosopher and artist: The thought of Ludwig Wittgenstein and the work of Eduardo Paolozzi" will take place at Fondazione Querini Stampalia.

The conference, organized by the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Heritage at the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and the Department of Humanities and Cultural Heritage at the University of Udine, aims to investigate the complex relationship between the thoughts of one of the greatest philosophers of the twentieth century and the artistic experience of one of the most influential representatives of English and international art. The conference includes twenty reports held by philosophers, art historians, aestheticians and of philosophy of art from different countries.

An exhibition entitled "Wittgenstein and Paolozzi" will take place at the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Heritage (Palazzo Malcanton Marcorà) in occasion of the conference. On the fourth floor of the palace, 12 reproductions of Paolozzi (whose originals are held at the Tate Gallery in London)will be exhibited, illustrating their conceptual relationship with Wittgenstein.

Free entry and open to all during the opening hours of the Department.
