This year, two students enroled at Ca' Foscari, Alessandro Leombruni and Francesca Gastoldi, were selected to be part of the jury of the 74th International Film Festival’s “Venezia Classici” award. They will be viewing a selection of classic films restored this year by film libraries, cultural institutions and production houses across the world.

The two students are a part of a small group of students from across the country that will assist Giuseppe Piccioni, president of the jury and film director (Fuori dal mondo, Luce dei miei occhi, Questi giorni), in the selection of the winner of the “Venezia Classici” award. Alessandro Leombruni and Francesca Gastoldi are enrolled on, respectively, the Language, Culture and Society of Asia and Mediterranean Africa Bachelor’s degree programme and the Economics and Management of Arts and Cultural Activities Master’s degree programme. They are actively collaborating with Professor Roberta Novielli, artistic director of Ca’ Foscari Short Film Festival.

The selection of restored masterpieces that will be presented at the 74th edition of the International Film festival includes: 1900 by Bernardo Bertolucci (1976), Red Desert by Michelangelo Antonioni (Golden Lion at the Venice International Film Festival of 1964), The Crucified Lovers (1954) and Sansho the Bailiff  (Awarded Silver Lion at the Venice International Film Festival of 1954) by Kenji Mizoguchi, Wanderers of the desert by Nacer Khemir (1984), The Revolt of Mamie Stover by Raoul Walsh (1956), The Third Lover by Claude Chabrol (1962), Black Peter by Miloš Forman (1963), Close Encounters of the Third Kind by Steven Spielberg (1977), Batch ’81 by Mike De Leon (1982) and Into the Night by John Landis (1985).
