New generations of RS archaeologists formed by VEiL

VEiL project back to school to inspire new generations of RS archaeologists

MC Fellow Dr Arianna Traviglia visited today the 'Pio X' Institute in Treviso as part of the her activities as a MC Ambassador in order to deliver a special seminar for young scholars titled 'Archaeologist from the Satellite'.

A group of 7th grade students were introduced to the basic principles of Remote Sensing archaeology, learned about detecting buried archaeological sites using satellite imagery and discussed about the work of a researcher, with special reference to the work of an archaeologists. The students were then introduced to Google Earth and its applications in Archaeology for the detection of still uncovered archaeological sites and explored archaeological landscapes in Italy, Middle East, UK and Brazil.

MSCA fellows’ activities as Ambassadors are meant to provide a role model to inspire the young generation to become scientists and researchers, and promote such careers by sharing their testimonials and encourage students’ interest in research.
