UnVEiLing the story of ancient objects

Fieldwork activities still in progress with the analysis of the recovered artefacts

The field activities of the VEiL project continue with the study of the artefacts recovered at the newly identified sites. Stored within the storage space of the Superintendency for Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscapes of Friuli Venezia Giulia – Aquileia branch the materials will be analysed and catalogued by the ceramologists participating to the project. Among retrieved artefacts, it is expected that bronze coins recovered at two different sites will provide the most interesting information in relation to the occupation of the sites. Materials recovered include fragments of amphorae, terra sigillata, frescoes, marble fragments, mosaic tesserae and a bronze fibula (a brooch).
